The luggage compartment can be locked together with the passenger compartment.
Some cars include the ability to open the trunk remotely. This can be achieved in several ways:
The latch is released, the door seal pushes the trunk lid away from the lock, and the trunk opens, the lid may not reveal the opening.
The latch is released, the spring pushes the trunk lid away from the lock and opens, and the trunk opens, revealing the lid opening.
Release the latch and activate the drive, either hydraulic (BMW7 Series) or electric (BMWX6), push the trunk lid off the lock; the trunk then opens and the lid exposes the opening. This can then be electrically closed again.
